ATMOPAV
                              Newsletter

We're looking for Authors . . .

If you’re an educator, you have something to share, and the ATMOPAV Newsletter is a good place to do it.
We are always looking for more writers of regular columns and of single articles.
About what, you ask? Consider these possibilities:

 • Mathematics software reviews in depth
 • Activities for grades Pre-K through 4, especially, but any level is welcome
 • Implementing Everyday Mathematics at your level
 • Cross-curricular activities that link math with other subjects
 • Diary of a first-year teacher
 • Recollections of a retired teacher
 • Mathematics-related history
 • Useful resource books for teachers
 • Math games and puzzles (esp. for elementary and middle school)
 • Literature connections (at every level)
 • Teaching with particular software: LOGO, spreadsheets, Geometer’s Sketchpad, etc.
 • Working with challenged learners
 • Parent night ideas
. . . and whatever else you might think of.

We are eager for material that applies to any level of mathematics education. If you don’t want to write but know a colleague who may, please pass the word.

Articles should be submitted in the least-formatted way possible (no columns, for example). Times New Roman is the preferred typeface, single-spaced and using a 10-point font size. Microsoft Word, WordPerfect, and RTF (Rich Text Format) are all good. Photographs should be submitted separately with instructions embedded in the text to show where they should appear.

Along with your name and school affiliation, please provide your telephone number and email address so we can contact you if there are any questions or if we need your approval of a significant editing change. Articles will be edited for punctuation, clarity, grammar, and typos without author consent, but any major changes will be submitted to the author for approval or alternative suggestions. Please indicate whether you do or do not want to have your email address published with the article. Samples of student work will be included without identifying the student. If the student's work comprises a significant part of the article, we would like to have the written consent of the student and a parent or guardian along with permission to include the student's name (or not, as they prefer).

Articles submitted for publication should meet the following deadlines:

  • September 1 for the Fall issue
  • December 1 for the Winter issue
  • March 1 for the Spring issue.
  • Submit articles (and direct any questions you may have) to:
